Leyenda del Cristo de Santiago
Este Cristo crucificado, hoy en el Museo Diocesano, procede de la desaparecida iglesia de Santiago y fue el inspirador de una leyenda. Había en esta ciudad de Segovia una doncella muy virtuosa por cuyos amores andaba un mozo loco y perdido. Los desatinos del mozo eran muchos y la doncella andaba temiendo cualquier desastre cuando un día, hallándose rezando ante el Cristo de Santiago, el mozo se acercó y le prometió que si consentía en entregarse se casaría con ella. Sin embargo, una vez que la hubo conseguido, el mozo no mostró intención de cumplir su promesa, a lo que la joven decidió acusarle ante el obispo. Preguntó éste si había algún testigo y como la muchacha señalara al Cristo de Santiago, el obispo acudió a tomarle juramento, cosa que el Cristo hizo, desclavando su mano y poniéndola sobre los Evangelios. Desde entonces la imagen se considera milagrosa.
Legend of the Christ of Saint James
This crucified Christ, which is currently located at the Diocesiano Museum, comes from the disappeared church of Santiago and was the inspirational element of a legend. Once in Segovia, there was a virtuous young lady, whose charm had put a lad under her spell. The young boy’s blunders were too many, and the lady was afraid that something terrible was going to happen. One day, the lady was praying to the Christ of Saint James, when the lad came and promised her that, if she gave herself to him, he would marry her. However, once he had achieved what he wanted, the boy showed no intention to keep his word. For this reason, the lady decided to report him to the bishop, who asked if there were any witnesses. Then, the young lady pointed at the Christ of Saint James. When the bishop asked the Christ to swear an oath, he separated his hand from the cross and pointed at the Gospels. Since that moment, the statue is considered miraculous.
Légende du Christ de Saint Jacques
Ce Christ crucifié, qui se trouve aujourd’hui dans le Musée Diocesano, procède de l’église de Saint Jacques, qui a disparu. C’est un élément qui a inspiré une légende très connue. La légende raconte qu’il y avait à Segovia une jeune femme qui avait un prétendant qui était fou d’elle. Le garçon faisait constamment des gaffes et la jeune femme craignait qu’un désastre ait lieu. Un jour, elle se trouvait en face du Christ de Saint Jaques pour prier quand le garçon s’est présenté et lui a dit que si elle se consacrait à lui. Cependant, une fois que le garçon a atteint son objectif, il n’avait aucune intention de tenir sa promesse, donc la jeune femme a décidé de l’accuser avant l’évêque. Celui-ci a demandé s’il y avait un témoin. Comme la jeune femme lui a montré le Christ de Saint Jacques, l’évêque a décidé de lui prêter témoin. Ainsi, le Christ a séparé sa main de la croix et l’a posée sur le livre des Évangiles. Depuis ce moment-là cette statue se considère miraculeuse.
Легенда о Христе Святого Иакова
Это распятие Христа, находящееся теперь в Епархиальном музее, ранее располагалось в исчезнувшей церкви Сантьяго, и с ним связана одна легенда… Жила в Сеговии очень добродетельная девушка, любовь к которой сводила с ума одного парня. Молодой человек делал много нелепых поступков, и девушка опасалась беды. Однажды, когда она молилась перед Христом Иакова, парень подошёл к ней и пообещал, что, если она ему отдастся, то он женится на ней. Однако, после того, как парень добился своего, он не намеревался выполнить своё обещание. Тогда девушка решила обвинить его перед епископом, который спросил, был ли кто-то свидетелем их соглашения. Как только девушка указала на Христа Иакова, епископ подошёл к нему, чтобы взять присягу, которую Христос дал, отсоединив прибитую руку и положив её на Евангелие. С тех пор образ считается чудотворным.
