The Fountain of the Chapels

Its name comes from some old chapels that were located in this area, although now none of them remains standing. We can find it located in a slope, around the south of the village. The building closed its doors in 1992. Finally, in 2003 the restoration of the building finished, turning it into one of the most popular monuments in Manzanares el Real.

The chapel is built with grey granite; it consists of a hut made of granite cemented with lime mortar. This hut collects the water that comes from the waterways and distributes it to the fountain.

The eastern facade has an opening crowned by a semicircular arch, which allows the access. Its southern facade has one pipe that provided water suitable for human consumption, while the rest ended up in a basin to feed the animals.
